Check out Joeys podcast with 30PLUSBMX.COM tells you his life story and how he got into bmx.
The NBL Grands started off last weekend with practice and a pre-race on Friday night. If you're not familiar with how the Grands works, Saturday they only run the first two rounds of motos, then on Sunday they run the third round and all the qualifying rounds after.
On Saturday the real action kicked off with a UCI race for Elite Men and then first day of the Grand Nationals for the amateur racers. Nick Lucas 19-24X had a little trouble due to a gear change that left him spinning and spinning and not going anywere he ended the first day with a 4th and a 3rd in his first 2 motos. With a new gear on Sunday it was a new good day walking away with a first in the third moto but the day turned to the worse when he took a hard crash in his 1/8th knocking him out of the race.
Joey Albright was there supporting the Madera/Profile team, he is still not back on his bike yet from his crash at his home track in Kingston, NY which left him with a broken back, ribs and elbow, but we will for sure see him at the Disney Cup in Orlando Florida on October 21-23.
Cousin Joey also gave away his NBL title winning bike to the winner of the 15 challenger class. Mike Carruth did a story on it so look later today for the story behind that.
